North Idaho Community Action Network (NICAN) has been formed to provide a network to educate and enable the community to affect decisions that will impact the quality of life and long-term economic health of Sandpoint and the larger community.

NICAN’s preliminary focus is on what we and many others consider an imminent threat to our community’s quality of life and economic survival - the Sand Creek Bypass.

We believe that the negative consequences far outweigh the benefits of locating the bypass on the Sand Creek Peninsula, as proposed by the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD).
